GAWANG JUNG, CREMONA (ITALY)

Born in Incheon (South Korea) in 1990, Jung has graduated from a technological high school in 2008 and began to further cultivate his passion for classical music, especially for the violin. This period also saw the beginning of his strong interest in violin making, and his understanding that it would become his future profession.

He studied Italian and the fundamentals of string instrument construction over the next two years with the aim of then enrolling in the world-renowned violin making school in Cremona.
In 2012 he entered the school directly into the third-year class, and graduated in 2015 under the guidance of M° Massimo Ardoli.

In 2016 Jung began his formative apprenticeship in the workshop of M° Francesco Toto, where he stayed on to work after completing his period of formation.

In 2018, while working in the workshop of M° Francesco Toto, he participated in the international violin making competition XV Concorso Triennale Internazionale di Liuteria “Antonio Stradivari” where he  received the gold medal as the overall winner in the cello section.

From 2019 to 2020 he has co-worked with M° Francesco Toto as a partner, and since 2022 he has been working as an independent freelancer on his own.
