EMILIO E LUCA SLAVIERO, CREMONA (ITALY)

Today bow-making is a concrete, present and distinguishable reality in the field of lutherie. Although bow and instrument are part of a single great artistic movement in the musical field, the distinction has become necessary in order to define the object that structures and generates sound (the instrument) and the spark that is able to ignite and animate it (the bow).

The specific choice of materials, the study of combinations and matches between them and the constant comparison between modernity and tradition, are the flagship of the Atelier Slaviero, which finds, in a contained and high-level production, the fundamental distinctive feature for the creation of elements that guarantee uniqueness at any price range.

Two hundred and twenty years of bow-making history represent for Emilio and Luca Slaviero the foundations from which to start the search for a new and modern imprint, marked by the important combination of conviction, commitment, an open mind and a constant availability in terms of time and dedication.

EMILIO SLAVIERO

The discovery, at the age of 12, of a passion for music meets his passion for drawing and sculpture; and so in 1980 Emilio Slaviero decides to enroll in the school of bow-making allowing him to reconcile drawing, sculpture, music and stylistic freedom.
With J. F. Raffin, he approached the study of antique bows, learning their secrets to reinterpret. The world capital of bow-making is certainly Paris, but staying in Cremona was a mission for him: home of Amati, Guarneri and Stradivari, he deserved the transplant, or rather, the cultural implant of bow-making.
His family of bows was born from a deep bond. With his wife Antonietta, a bowmaker, the teamwork was easy: the same skills, division of tasks and sharing of choices were the secrets that made their work successful, accompanying the workshop to new and prestigious goals, with an international scope.
More recently, their son Luca has joined them, who has freely decided to continue the family business, immediately showing his skills and personality.

LUCA SLAVIERO

Luca Slaviero was born in Cremona on April 28, 1991. During the school year 2011-2012 he attended and graduated at the CR Forma of Cremona for the course of “Production Technician – Builder of bows for musical instruments” under the guidance of his father M° Emilio Slaviero and M° Lorenzo Lazzarato. He will then carry out an internship in Paris at the atelier of M° Tibor Kovacs in Rue de Rome and later he will move to Lyon at the atelier of M° Sylvain Bygot. He frequently participates in various music fairs such as those of Tokyo, Shanghai, New York and Frankfurt. His models are inspired by the French tradition of the late eighteenth century until the first decades of the twentieth century as Tourte, Pajeot, Simon, Peccatte, Voirin and Sartory, always looking for new forms of expression that connect tradition to modernity.
He currently collaborates with his father Emilio at the atelier in Cremona, developing his knowledge in the field of restoration and construction.
